Digability
One relaxing Saturday afternoon I was skimming through my beloved "New Yorker" magazine (you get all of the humor and attitude of New York but you don't have to live there!) when I came across a review of some recent R&B recording by a very intuitive critic whose name I don't remember.
He coined the term "digability" to describe his own ability "as a white person to appreciate and love black music". Magic! I could so relate to that statement. Since early adolescence I have been drawn to "black magic" in all its richness and diversity. Collectively, R&B, blues, soul, and later, hip-hop - but most importantly, jazz, were the musical language of my youth. This is my own little tribute to that tradition. Dig!
